How do you tell a story, about a story?
But here I am. The book I am writing with the working title is "Protopia" spans the breadth of human history. Starting with Ötzi the Iceman and culminating with the establishment of of the United Nations. There is a through line in the development of humanity from that dear man who died in the snow 5,000 years ago to the SOLAS regulations that establish modern global shipping regulations. If that seems preposterous, read the book when it comes out.
Unfortunately we all understand the relationship between climate and weather. When I was young "Climate Change" was not in our vocabulary, but today we all know what it means, But what if we extended the metaphor and thought of the advancement of human civilization as climate, going back to the Garden of Eden, all the way to today, and thought of the election cycles as simply weather.
Protopia is the story of climate change in the evolution of human society. Whether you believe in divine creation or the idea that we are the product of completely random events in the universe, some how we got from there to here, and Protopia is my way of drawing all those threads into what I hope is an engaging tale.
In this space I will be creating a resource of character descriptions, place names, and perhaps a few Easter Eggs
Much love to you all,
Adam Bauer
